Facebook is weird, but...

I saw this (as I'm trying to update things for a new song I'm releasing):

1. All I want to do is a quick update for people who follow my artist page on facebook, but in order for me to do so, I have to confirm my identity by using the facebook app on my phone? I don't want facebook on my phone. It slows my phone down and eats up my battery. Am I being an old person here or is this weird that I have to use facebook on my phone in order to post from my desktop? Is this the new version of "get off my lawn" like "get off my cell phone."

2. Is there something about this post that goes against Community Standards? Is that why I have to confirm my identity? Or is this unrelated. I gave feedback saying that I didn't think anything about this post was against Community Standards.

So asked their AI how these questions and it said I can upload a government issued ID to verify my identity. That seems like it would make identity theft easy or easier if facebook ever has a data breach. Not interested in that route. I guess I'll try using the app on my phone and then delete the app when I'm done.

TLDR: Facebook is annoying and invasive.

I wonder if there's a better way to connect with people that's not annoying or creepily invasive?
